To foster an interest and understanding of the history in our region.
To support the Low Head Pilot Station Museum.
Through monthly forums, guest speakers, excursions, biennial conferences, displays and involvement with other groups with similar interests we hope to achieve our aims.
Our Society was formed in 1997 and the enthusiasm shown by the group has resulted in a very impressive collection of printed material, images, oral histories, databases and various other collections. We have also run biennial conferences.
Involvement: Our Society is involved in various pursuits which include:
Supporting the Pilot Station Maritime Museum.
Female Convict Research Centre.
Displays, i.e. Community Functions.
The production of books, booklets and conference papers.
Recording of oral history.
Attending conferences and symposiums of similar Societies.
We meet at 7.30 pm on the third Monday of each month at “The Grove”. We usually hold three of our meetings in the country areas of Hillwood, Pipers River and Low Head. Our monthly meetings take the form of either a forum, discussion or a guest speaker.
